Downhere Concert Review

On October 1st, 2006 I went to the Don't Conform Tour in Kokomo, Indiana. The lineup was Downhere, Matthew West, and Barlow Girl. The concert was at the new Oakbrook Community Church. The church had an amazing amphitheater perfect for a concert. Kudos to the sound board operator for producing crystal-clear sound. The lighting was also excellent.

Downhere was the first to hit the stage and they hit the ground running! I would comment on each song, but I don't want to give away what they played and ruin the show for future attendees. Jeremy and Glenn nonchalantly kept the drums and bass thumping throughout the evening. I don't think they even broke a sweat! Jason delivered heartfelt lyrics as usual. My first exposure to Downhere was watching Live From Studio B and I remember thinking "Man, that dude is one wired individual!(referring to Marc)" Marc is one of the most intense performers I've seen in the 150 or so concerts I have been to through the years. OK, so he's not quite Bono, but give him three or four more albums to work on it.

Speaking of Bono... I saw U2 back in 1987 at the Hoosier Dome with the other 45,000 concertgoers. And what does this have to do with Downhere? Even though U2 was playing for 45,000 they had a way of connecting with the audience to make you feel like they were performing for just you. Well, Downhere has that same gift. So, I highly recommend seeing them live. I'm talking to you, and you, and you and you and you!
